Worship

At St. John’s, worship is at the center of our life together. We gather to reflect on Scripture and give thanks to God in the celebration of Holy Eucharist.

Fall/Spring/Winter

Sunday at 8:00am: Rite 1 Holy Communion

A spoken, meditative service officiated from the chantry altar

Sunday at 10:00am: Rite II Holy Communion

This service includes a full choir and is offered in-person and live-streamed, officiated from the high altar

Children

Children of all ages are always welcome in our services. The sound of children in church is holy! That said, for parents and caregivers who prefer it, childcare is available at the 10:00 service for children 6 and under.

During the program year (September – May or June), we hold Little Church during the first half of the Sunday service on the first and third Sundays of the month. This allows children a chance to hear an age-appropriate lesson led by experienced volunteers as well as clergy visits. Adults are welcome to attend with their child, but the lesson is geared toward children.

Youth

Youth in Middle School and High School are encouraged to participate in Sunday services as acolytes, crucifers, or lectors. Contact the clergy about training. We also hold events for families outside of Sunday morning, so keep an eye on the weekly email for more information.

Confirmation Classes are offered periodically throughout the year.

Wednesday at 10:00 am: Lectio Divina and Eucharist

Every Wednesday, we meet in the Meditation Chapel for a deep dive into the following Sunday’s Gospel reading. This is followed by Holy Communion using liturgy from around the Anglican Communion.

Summer Sundays

Holy Eucharist at 9:00 AM

From July 1 through Labor Day weekend, we hold one service at 9 AM.  On the first Sunday of July, August and September, we hold this service on the front lawn, weather permitting.  Dogs, picnic blankets, and folding chairs are welcome.
